Name of Character(s):Delphine
Text: name and quote
Quote:Love and lightning, on the rare occasion, strike the same place twice
Species: horse
Age: 2 at the moment
Gender: female
Breed: mixed/mutt
Colour: buckskin paint
Physical Appearance: well, she considers herself to be beautiful... But yeah, she’s delicate, slim and feminine, with piercing blue eyes.
Personality: She’s pretty intolerant towards males for the most part, and she does have a bad habit of comparing herself to other females in the looks department. She is secretly afraid of loving somebody and then being abandoned by them, so she often keeps her distance, and can often appear cold or indifferent. She is kind-hearted at times though, and tends to treat those with disabilities with even more respect, perhaps, than ones without, because her mother was a mute, and Delphine adore her.
Images or References: well I found a stock picture that perfectly portrays how I see her, but if you don’t want to use it, I’ll be fine with anything else <3 equinestockimagery.deviantart.com/art/Paint-Horse-44-143525538

this one is pretty cool. I love the symbolism of the dead tree trunk <3 peace-of-art.deviantart.com/art/Nature-BG-98-57940414
and I also love how this one is of a tree growing right beside the water, and reaching down towards it. peace-of-art.deviantart.com/art/Nature-BG-106-58430455
Image Ideas: I’d really like it if she could be placed by both a forest/ several trees, and a body of water. These two elements incorporate the backgrounds of Jakob and Delacroix’s images. Perhaps the image could also be slightly morose/dark, to match Del herself. She’s not happy-go-lucky, she has seen horrible things, and has been hurt.
Example post with requested character:
It was said that everybody got what they deserved. Del would never be caught saying this to anyone, because, even while she could be the slightest bit vain, and perhaps too proud for her own good, she was not a liar. Her mother was the nicest mare she knew (and the only one she really, actually knew), and she had died a cruel death, long before her time. Jakob, all bent and broken, was good too; he had saved her life, and left everything else he loved behind, to make sure that his daughter, Evangeline, was okay. What he’d done had caused him a lot of heartbreak, but he never complained. He blamed himself for her death, though, and Del knew he would never forgive himself. And here, Valo was yet another example. He had been attacked, and damage had been done to a good, kind soul. It sickened Delphine, and she knew in her heart she’d rather die than hurt somebody, treat them in a way they didn’t deserve.
She stood by his side as if she’d always belonged there, as if it where the most natural thing for her in the world. She didn’t really know anyone else; her grandfather had become a shadow, and she hadn’t yet heard of the two mares he had once told her about; Delacroix and Cyrene. She knew she would find them, one day. She had to. Because she had no doubt in her mind that wherever they were, there Jakob would be too, and she longed to give him a piece of her mind. She did not appreciate being dumped like she had.
Her caramel ears were alert, her white face turned towards him, her eyes filled with many different emotions. She was glad that he hadn’t shown signs of taking another snooze in the chilling water, coz she wasn’t too keen on getting wet again. She snorted softly when he spoke again, dipping her muzzle in a small nod. “No, I don’t have a home. My grandfather dropped me off at the doorstep of the mare’s land, but I didn’t want to stay there. I’m looking for someone, you see. Two someones. Besides, I’m not gonna listen to Jakob, when he doesn’t even care.” She huffed, her anger towards her grandfather surfacing, and shook her head, cooling herself off.
She shuffles a little closer, her blue eyes casting around the nearby scenery, a contented smile fluttering on her lips as she settled beside Valo. She was so relieved that he wasn’t sounding so despondent any more. And she was glad that he wasn’t telling her to leave him alone, because she didn’t want him to waste his breath. Her ears fluttered at his next words, and she found herself frowning in deep thought. “Well, why not, hmm? I didn’t have anyone else to look after, and I was getting lonely. But now I’ve got you, Valo.” She paused, glancing at him, and then away from him, moving forwards and turning so that she was now facing him, and he could see her more easily. “I guess, I don’t know. My mother... she couldn’t speak, not a single word. She was the best horse I knew, she still is. She died protecting me. I miss her lots, but I know she’ll always be with me. I... I want to be like her, Valo. I want to be good and kind. And I want to be like you too. You’re stronger, inside, than anyone I know, and I only know very strong horses.” She smiled at him, wondering how long it would take to worm a smile out of him, and then spoke again, her voice softer now, a hint of laughter in her voice. “I’m definitely not wasting my time, Valo, not anymore. Girls my age should be innocent and naive and carefree. They shouldn’t have to look after themselves, have gone through what I have. But I am not complaining. I know just how cruel life can be, and I don’t want to be deluded by fantasies. I only want to do my best to help other people.” She dropped her gaze, sad, but trying to hide it. “I don’t want to be alone...”
